FULL RESULTSThe SVC swimming teams opened the 2015-16 season by competing in the Westminster Relays, held in New Wilmington, PA.
The women's team got off to a quick start, winning the evening's first event, the 3x100 Butterfly Relay. Â
Maddie Bartrug,
Kat Guevara and
Marissa Frollo were winners in 3:04.14, more than 9 seconds ahead of second place Westminster.
The men's team of
Xander Emili, Matthew Tashima and
Alek Kraft finished third in their heat, timed in 2:49.57.
In the 800 Free Relay, the Bearcat men finished third. Â
Alex Bolen,
Sean Doyle,
Matt Crum and
Brian Flynn were timed in 7:40.27.
SVC picked up another victory in the women's 200 Free Relay, as Bartrug, Frollo,
Cassie Trudel and
Ciara Lewis won in 1:42.12, more than six seconds ahead of second place Westminster. Â
In the men's 200 Free Relay, the SVC team of
Jacob Davis, Emili, Tashima and Bolen finished a strong third in 1:30.14, less than one second behind Westminster and Edinboro (1:29.23, 1:29.56, respectively).
The women's 400 IM Relay team of
Kelly Kramer,
Gabby Bobak, Trudel and Frollo finished third in 4:26.
The Relays serve as a warmup for the first meet of the year, as the Bearcats will host Penn State-Altoona at the Resnik Pool on Saturday (October 24) at 3PM. Â
