FULL RESULTSLATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 31) - The Saint Vincent swimming teams opened Presidents' Athletic Conference competition by hosting Grove City at Resnik Pool. The Bearcat men were victorious by a 140-121 score, while the SVC women fell 136-126.
Leading the way on the men's side was
Jacob Davis. The freshman took first place in the 100 Back, with a time of 54.82. Davis also finished in the top spot in the 100 Free, with a time of 49:07. Davis was also a part of the 200 Medley and 400 Free Relay teams that took home first place finishes.
Davis was joined by
Adam Gordish,
Xander Emili and
Matt Tashima on the 200 Medley team that came in at 1:41.59. The 400 Free team put together a time of 3:21.62 and included Tashima, Sant, Bolen and Davis.
Emili finished in first place in both the 100 Fly (:54.16) and the in 200 Fly (2:04.46). Emili rounded out his day with a win in the 200 IM, coming in at 2:04.36, just under a second better than the next closest competitor.
Bolen notched a first place decision in the 200 Free, posting a time of 1:50.32. SVC took the top three spots in the 1000 Free, as
Matt Crum led the way with a time of 10:44.28. Bolen added a second place finish in the 500 Free, touching the wall in 5:09.52.
Moving to the women's side was freshman
Maddie Bartrug, as she continued her stellar start to the season, setting a new school and Resnik Pool record in the 200 Free. Bartrug posted a time of 1:56.30 for a first place finish in the event. Bartrug then added a first place time good enough for a pool record in the 100 Free, touching the wall at 53.39. Bartrug added a second place finish in the 500 Free, with a time of 5:23.96.
Freshman
Sarah Sheldon finished first in the 200 Back, with a time of 2:20.54. Freshman
Cassie Trudel and Sheldon finished 1-2 in the 100 Back, with respective times of 1:02.41 and 1:03.31.
Marissa Frollo finished first in the 50 Free event, posting a time of 25.13.
Ciara Lewis was in third place at 25.70.
Kelly Kramer and
Grace Reynolds claimed second and third place in the 100 Breaststroke event. Kramer finished in 1:12.57 while Reynolds clocked in at 1:12.88.
Kat Guevara finished in second place at 2:20.61 in the 200 Fly event. She added a second place performance in the 100 Fly, with a time of 1:01.80.
Bartrug, Frollo, Trudel and Lewis finished in first place in the 400 Free Relay, with a time of 3:43.85. Sheldon, Kramer, Frollo and Lewis posted a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, coming in just .03 seconds behind the first place team from Grove City.
Both SVC swim teams return to action at York College on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Bearcats will face-off against York, St. Marys (MD) and Ursinus. The event starts at 1 p.m.
