FULL RESULTSALLIANCE, Ohio (Dec. 11) - The Saint Vincent swimming teams traveled to face the University of Mount Union in non-conference competition. The Bearcat women fell 139-123, while the men dropped the meet by a score of 152-110.
The women's team was led by
Kat Guevara, who finished first in the 200 Fly, posting a time of 2:18.88. Guevara added a top time in the 100 Fly, at 1:01.90. Rounding out her busy day, Guevara finished in second place in the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:21.99.
The Bearcat quartet of
Sarah Sheldon,
Grace Reynolds,
Marissa Frollo and
Ciara Lewis took first place in the 200 Medley Relay. The group finished up with a time of 1:52.92. The team of
Cassie Trudel,
Kelly Kramer,
Katelyn Miller and Guevara finished third in the event.
Bartrug,
Samantha Mears, Frollo and Lewis finished first in the 400 Free Relay, with a time of 3:43.26. That time was nearly nine seconds faster than the next team.
Freshman
Maddie Bartrug took home the top spot in the 200 Free with a time of 1:56.17. Bartrug added a first place finish in the 500 Free, with a time of 25.08, just ahead of Lewis (25.76). The freshman also was first in the 100 Free, at 54.38. Lewis finished in third place at 55.99.
Sheldon took top honors in the 100 Back, posting a time of 1:03.13. Kramer and Reynolds finished 2-3 in the 100 Back, with times of 1:11.15 and 1:11.36, respectively.
Alex Bolen led the men's team at Mount Union. The sophomore came in first place in the 200 Free, touching the wall at 1:47.68, just under five seconds faster than the next closest competitor. Bolen was second in the 50 Free (22.52). Bolen also came in first in the 500 Free, with a top time of 4:54.19.

Kameron Faychak,
Matt Tashima and
Jacob Davis finished in second place in the 200 Medley Relay, with a time of 1:39.83.
Michael Marinchak finished in first place in the 100 Breaststroke, with a time of 1:02.22.
Matt Crum and
Brian Flynn came in second and third place respectively in the 1000 Free. Davis placed second in the 100 Back, just a little over a second off the pace, at 54.39. Davis also came in second in the 100 Free (49.04).
Gordish and
Xander Emili finished second and third in the 200 Fly event. Emili came in second in the 100 Fly (53.63). In the 200 IM, Emili touched the wall at 2:03.80, to finish in first place in the event. Faychak and Marinchak were second and third in the 200 Breaststroke.
The Bearcats are now off from competition until 2016. SVC faces Bethany and Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Jan. 16. The competition will be held in Pittsburgh, with a 1 p.m. start time.
