The Bearcats improved to 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 78-67 victory on the road against Geneva College in Beaver Falls.

Austin Ford and Bobby Swartwout put SVC in front 4-0 in the game's first two minutes, and the lead eventually grew to 10-3 after a score by Jaylon Bell at the 15:38 mark.

A reverse layup by Pat Jones made it a 12-5 game at the 14:15 mark, but Geneva then went on a 9-2 run, making it a one-point Bearcat lead, 14-13.  A jumper by Mike Simmons put SVC in front by three, but Geneva answered with a long-range shot that tied the game near the midway point of the half.

Down 23-22 with less than six minutes to go, the Bearcats scored on a baseline jumper by Pat Jones that put them back in front, followed by a fadeaway by Geoff FuQuay that made it 25-22.

Entering the final minute of the half, it was a one-point game, 27-26, but FuQuay hit a three with 15 seconds remaining, and Bell stole the ball near midcourt on the ensuing possession, scoring on the breakaway to make it a 32-26 Bearcat lead at the half.

Bell and Jones jump started the Bearcats in the second half, putting the team in front 36-26.  The Golden Tornadoes cut the margin to six, 47-41, with 14:26 to go, and by the 10:51 mark, it was a one-point game, 50-49.

The Bearcats then took control thanks in part to strong defense, creating turnovers and hitting shots.  A steal by Bell led to a score by Dedert, and another steal on the next possession by Jones once again set up Dedert for a score, making it 56-49.  Back-to-back putback scores by Ford and Swartwout ran the lead to nine, 60-51, and a tip in by Matt D'Amico with 5:53 left made the score 66-53.

From there, the Bearcats cruised down the stretch, keeping the lead to nine points or more the rest of the way.

Jones led the way for SVC with 19 points, while Bell added 17.  Ford and Swartwout each tallied 10.  Ford had a team-high 8 rebounds while Swartwout had 7.

For Geneva, Chaese Vaudrin had a game-high 32 points, including 28 in the second half.  He went 14-for-16 from the free throw line.

Saint Vincent is now 4-1 overall, and will travel to Washington, DC on Monday (December 7) for a 5PM non-conference game against Catholic University.
