New Athletics logo unveiled

LATROBE, Pa. (April 20) – Seeking a more dynamic logo that is true to its history as Bearcats, Saint Vincent College unveiled a new athletic logo in front of a large crowd in the Student Lounge inside the Robert S. Carey Center.

The new athletic logo was designed and developed in a partnership between the Athletic Department and the Office of Marketing and Communications. The process took several months of hard work, which included review and comment from both alumni and current Saint Vincent College students.

George Fetkovich, SVC's art director, led the design. Fetkovich did countless hours of research and development to help identify the use of a "real bearcat".

"We thought having the face as the primary logo would give everyone a logo to gravitate to," Fetkovich said. "The development of the other secondary logos was a natural extension off of the primary logo. This new primary logo gives our Athletic Department a face."

Through the process, Fetkovich and his team consulted with SME Branding, Inc. in New York. SME Branding, Inc. has worked with clients such as the NCAA, the University of Kentucky, the Miami Marlins and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to name a few.

Monday's press conference included comments from President Br. Norman Hipps, O.S.B. Myron Kirsch (Director of Athletics), Suzanne English (Vice President of Marketing and Communications), Susan Hozak (Associate Athletic Director) and Fetkovich.  CLICK HERE to watch a replay of the press conference.

The new logo will go into effect with the start of the 2015-16 athletic season. The logo will be featured on the new athletic website coming this June.
