The SVC men's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a heartbreaking loss in double overtime to visiting Juniata College, 1-0.

With just over 8 minutes remaining in the second overtime period, Juniata's Reese Fisher took a shot that was saved by Bearcat keeper Jon White, but the rebound found the foot of the Eagles' Adam Heller, who placed the ball into the lower left corner of the net for the "golden goal" victory.

The game's first 45 minutes belonged to the Bearcats, as the team outshot Juniata 9-3.  In the second half, the visitors held a 9-4 edge in shots, but solid play in net by newcomer White kept the game scoreless.  The Bearcats also had opportunities to score but were thwarted by JC's Achim Schwemmlein in the net.

During the first overtime period, Juniata had three shots, while SVC had two, but again the keepers kept the ball out of the net, sending the game to what would have been the final 10 minute period.

SVC tallied 9 shots on goal for the afternoon, including three from Kevin Proctor.  White made a total of 8 saves in the net in 101:45.

The Bearcats (0-1) will travel to Ohio for the Defiance College Tournament this weekend.  First up will be a 4PM game on Saturday against the College of Wooster.
