Jym Walters' SVC women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 7-2 win on the road in Beaver Falls against Geneva College.
The Bearcats captured two of the three doubles matches. Â The #1 tandem of
Susie Ellis and
Jackii Hauser were 8-2 winners in their match, while
Anita Onufer and
Maria Gismondi won the #3 match by a score of 8-1.
SVC then captured five of six points in singles. Â Ellis was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at #1, while Hauser won the #2 match in straight sets as well, 6-2, 6-1.
At #3,
Lucy Bujdos had to go to a tiebreaker to earn a 7-6 win in the first set, before breezing to a 6-0 victory in the second. Â The #4 match was won by
Autumn Miller, 6-3, 6-2. Â
Breana Liberoni was a 6-1, 7-5 winner at #6. Â Onufer, playing the #5 match, took part in the longest match of the day by far. Â She won the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, before falling 7-5 in the second. Â The third set went to a match tiebreaker, with Geneva winning 10-8.
Saint Vincent is now 4-2 overall, and will next face the University of Mount Union in a non-conference match on Friday at 4PM on the campus courts.
