BOX SCORELATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 25) - The Saint Vincent women's tennis team defeated Thiel College 9-0 at the SVC Courts, helping the Bearcats move to 4-0 in conference play.
Saint Vincent (5-3 overall, 4-0 PAC) swept the doubles matches. The team of
Susie Ellis and
Jackii Hauser took the win at first doubles by an 8-2 score. Freshman classmates
Lucy Bujdos and
Autumn Miller won 8-1 at the second spot, while
Anita Onufer and
Maria Gismondi swept the third doubles position, 8-0.
In singles action, the Bearcats had just as much success, only dropping four points total in the six singles matches.
Hauser, Bujdos and Liberoni all used 6-0 and 6-0 scores to sweep their respective matches.
Meanwhile, Ellis won 6-2 and 6-0 at the top spot, while Miller won 6-0 and 6-1 at fourth singles and Onufer used scores of 6-1 and 6-0 to gain victory at fifth singles.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday (Sept. 26) when they host Westminster College for another conference matchup. The two teams enter the match tied for first place in the PAC. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
