MUSKINGUM, Ohio (Sept. 26) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team overcame a halftime deficit to earn a 2-1 victory at Muskingum University.
The victory was the third straight for SVC and improved their overall record to 4-4. Muskingum dropped to 1-7-1 in 2015.
After allowing a goal in the 37th minute, the homestanding Muskies took a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break. However, Saint Vincent would rally in the second half.
Sophomore
Maggie Nelson knotted the score at 1-1 with a goal in the 54th minute, off an assist from freshman
Natalie Luppold.
Freshman
Calsey Holshue picked a great time for her first collegiate goal, scoring the go-ahead score in the 79th minute. Holshue scored off a long pass from senior
Meghan Smith.
Saint Vincent outshot Muskingum 22-10, including a 15-2 advantage in the second half.
Freshman
Corinne Burk picked up the victory in net, stopping five shots.
SVC will try to push the winning streak to four when they return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The Bearcats will face Juniata on the road at 4 p.m.
