DEFIANCE, Ohio (Sept. 5) - A second half goal off of a penalty shot helped Wilmington defeated the Saint Vincent women's soccer team at the Defiance College Tournament.
The Quakers got on the board first with a goal from Taylor Scott just under five minutes into the contest. SVC quickly answered when senior
Meghan Smith scored off a pass from
Maggie Nelson in the 10th minute of play. The score remained knotted at 1-1 until Wilmington scored off a penalty kick in the 81st minute of action.
Wilmington outshot Saint Vincent 26-6 in the match and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper
Corinne Burk stopped 11 shots in net for the Bearcats.
Saint Vincent, now 0-2 on the season, faces host Defiance tomorrow. The Bearcats and Yellow Jackets will tangle at 10 a.m.
