The SVC men's swimming team put together a strong performance in the conference opener defeating Bethany at home, 122-99.
The men opened up the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay,
Adam Gordish,
Kameron Faychak,
Xander Emili, and
Jacob Davis won in 1:41.90. Teammates
Adam Tran,
Matt Kenney,
Matt Tashima, and
Alex Bolen came in second.
The men won their first individual in the 200 Free, Tashima clocked in a time of 1:54.18, while teammate Faychak came in second with a time of 2:00.19. The 200 Butterfly was won by Gordish in 2:09.44 with
Andrew Rectenwald finishing in second.
Davis was the winner in the 100 Backstroke, in 56.73. Rectenwald came in second with a time of 1:02.12.
Michael Marinchak won the men's 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:03.28.
The men swept the 100 Free, Davis the winner in the event in a time of 49.61,
Marshall Grubb and Marinchak finished second and third, respectively.
Another sweep in the 200 Breaststroke as
Sean Doyle was the winner of the event, clocking in with a time of 2:23.28, just head of teammates
Justin Newman and
Peter Becker.
Bolen was the winner by more than 20 seconds in the men's 500 Free with a time of 5:04.95. Tran and Rectenwald came in the second and third, respectively. Faychak clocked in at a time of 59.20 in the 100 Butterfly with Doyle close in second with a time of 1:00.55.
Tashima put together another strong performance in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:10.08, out-touching teammate Marinchak, who clocked in with a time of 2:10.22.
The men had a full sweep in the 200 Free Relay. Tashima, Marinchak, Gordish, and Davis clocked in first with a time of 1:34. 26. Emili, Faychak, Emili and Newman in second, and Tran, Rectenwald, Grubb and Kenney in third.
The Bearcats will be on the road on Saturday, October 29 for another Presidents Athletic Conference match against Grove City at 1 p.m.
