GROVE CITY, Pa. (Oct. 29) – The Saint Vincent swimming teams traveled to face Grove City for their first road conference meet of the season. The women's team lost by a 161-125 score, while the men dropped the meet 150-129 to the Wolverines.
Leading the women's was senior
Marla Turk, who claimed first place in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:07.88. Turk also added a win in the 500 Free clocking in at a time of 5:27.17 out-touching Grove City swimmer by a second. Finishing up the meet Turk claimed the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:17.22.
Sophomore
Maddie Bartrug as well had a terrific performance claiming the top spot in the 200 Free with a time of 1:57.07 and had a top time in the 100 Free at 54.30.
Sarah Sheldon and
Kelly Kramer finished 2-3 the 100 Backstroke with times of 1:03.29 and 1:03.38, respectively. Kramer added a second place finish in the 200 Backstroke in a time of 2:17.96, while teammate Sheldon came in third with a time of 2:20.96.
Ciara Lewis claimed second place in the 50 Free with a time of 25.29 only a 1/10 ahead of teammate
Marissa Frollo.
In the 400 Free Relay the quartet of Bartrug,
Claire Kenna, Frollo, and Lewis clocked in at time of 3:42.81.
Leading the men's team was sophomore
Jacob Davis. The sophomore claimed the top spot in the 200 Free with a time of 1:49.12. In the 50 Free Davis clocked in at a time of 21.82. Finishing up his performances, Davis won the men's 100 Free with a time of 47.83.
Alex Bolen finished off another solid performance in the 500 Free (4:59.70), pulling ahead of his opponent in the last 50 of the race.
Adding in a pair of second place finishes was
Adam Gordish in the 100 Backstroke in 56.12 and 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:02.17.
Kameron Faychak as well finished second in the 200 Breaststroke in 2:22.57.
Xander Emili chipped in a win in the men's 100 Butterfly with a time of 53.88. The senior also finished first in the 200 Individual Medley, clocking in at 2:06.24. Emili added a second place finish in the 200 Butterfly, with a time of 2:04.57.
Finishing up the meet, the quartet of Bolen,
Adam Tran,
Matt Tashima, and Davis won the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:18.15.
Both teams drop to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in PAC action. The Bearcats will be back in action at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Friday, Nov. 11. The competition will be held at 6 p.m.
