Zach Kocak found the back of the net in the 91st minute of play, giving the Saint Vincent men's soccer team a 1-0 overtime victory at Thiel.
Both teams battled evenly through the first 90 minutes to force overtime. Thiel out-shot SVC 10-7 in the first half of play and the Tomcats had a 7-5 edge in the second half. Freshman goalkeeper
Nick Bohn made a save and Thiel had another shot hit off the post in the final minute of regulation.
Kocak wasted little time in the extra session. After his first shot was saved by the Thiel keeper, Kocak control the rebound and put the ball in the net to help Saint Vincent earn its first Presidents' Athletic Conference win.
Kocak paced the offense, with a team-best six shots in the game. Bohn tallied six saves in a little more than 90 minutes of action, earning the win in net.
Thiel held a slight 17-16 shot advantage in the match, but SVC 10 shots on goal to just 6 for the Tomcats. Thiel racked up 11 corner kicks, as SVC had just four corners in the match.
Saint Vincent moves its PAC record to 1-1 and 2-9 overall. Thiel drops to 0-2 in the league and 3-8-1 overall.
SVC hosts Westminster in another PAC matchup on Saturday, Oct. 8. Start time is set for 1 p.m. at the SVC Turf.
