LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 8) - Despite out-shooting Westminster by a wide margin, the Saint Vincent women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Westminster College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup.
The Bearcats and Titans played through a scoreless tie until the 89th minute of action. That is when SVC was issued a red card for a handball in the box that prevented a Titan score. Keely Birsic connected on ensuing penalty kick, giving the Titans the only score of the contest.
Despite the loss, SVC out-shot Westminster by a 18-8 margin, including a narrow 10-8 edge in shots on goal. SVC held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Jackie McCarthy totaled a match-best four shots for SVC in the loss. Goalkeeper
Melissa McCarthy collected seven saves in 90 minutes of action in the tough luck loss.
The loss drops SVC to 1-2 in PAC play and 2-5-4 overall. Meanwhile, Westminster moves to 3-0 in PAC play and 7-4-2 overall for 2016.
Saint Vincent travels to Bethany on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
