The SVC women's tennis team lost its first Spring Break match by a score of 6-3 to Adrian College in Kissimmee, FL.
Highlighting the contest was a win at first singles by
Susie Ellis. Ellis took the first set 6-4 before dropping the second 3-6 to draw even at a set each. Ellis then took the third set tiebreak by a score of 10-6, claiming the match.Â
Anita Onufer followed suit at third singles. Onufer took the first set before falling in the second but bounced back to take the third set tiebreaker by a 12-10 score.Â
Maria Gismondi fought through perhaps the toughest battle of the match. The junior split the first two sets, winning the first set by a point before dropping the second set. Gismondi then won 10-7 in the third set tiebreaker to take the contest at fifth singles.Â
Also competing in singles was Freshman
Autumn Miller at second singles,
Breana Liberoni at fourth singles and
Hayley Lee at sixth singles.Â
Adrian swept the doubles matches over the Bearcats.
Sarah Selip and
Lauren Campbell competed at number two doubles but ultimately fell 8-3.Â
SVC takes on Wartburg College from Iowa tomorrow (Tuesday) at 12 p.m. in Orlando.
