The Saint Vincent softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Penn State Fayette. The Bearcats took game one 13-0 in five innings, before adding a 16-1 game two win in five innings.
SVC jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one inning and an 11-0 advantage after two innings in game one. The Bearcats added single runs in the top of the third and top of the fifth innings.
Eight different Bearcats accounted for the eight hits.
Courtney Patterson recorded two RBI in the game one win. Junior pitcher
Samantha Emert recorded the win, pushing her season record to 6-1. Emert struck out six and didn't allow a base runner in three innings of work.
The Bearcats scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning of game two, sending a total of 15 hitters to the plate in the frame.
Shelby Noel recorded four RBI in the inning, with a two-run single and a two-run double. Annie Workman, Emert and
Breanne Wallace each picked up an RBI in the fourth inning, as SVC pushed the advantage to 14-0.
Kelsey Lineberger had an RBI double and Patterson also chipped in an RBI hit in the 5th, making it 16-1.
Kristin Segiel, Emert and Noel each recorded two-hit games in the second contest of the day.
Emily Duerr picked up the win in the circle, improving her season record to 4-3.
For the day the Bearcats totaled 29 runs on 21 hits, while also benefitting from 27 walks.
The wins improve SVC to 10-6 overall. The Bearcats travel to Juniata College on March 31. Start time for the road doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
