GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 16) - The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team lost 12-2 on the road at rival Thiel College in Ohio River Lacrosse Conference play.
Saint Vincent drops to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the ORLC. Thiel improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Thiel got on the board first with an unassisted score less than a minute into the game. Saint Vincent responded with a goal by
Jeremy Kennedy less than two minutes later. The Kennedy goal was assisted by
Jon Souders, making it 1-1 with 12:13 left in the first. Thiel would add a goal to take a 2-1 edge after 15 minutes of play.
The Tomcats scored all four goals in the second quarter to take a 6-1 lead into halftime. After both teams went scoreless in the third quarter, Thiel dominated the fourth quarter scoring the first six goals to take a decisive 12-1 advantage with 7:05 left to play. Senior
Tim Oxenreiter scored a man-up goal for SVC, off an assist from
Brendon Masten with 51 seconds left, putting the final score at 12-2. Oxenreiter's goal put him at 98 career points.
Thiel owned a 44-25 advantage over SVC in shots, including a 23-9 edge on goal. Saint Vincent committed 32 turnovers in the loss, including 19 in the second half. Thiel picked up 44 groundballs compared to 37 for the Bearcats. Face-offs were even at 8-8 between the two teams.

Greg Gonzalez made 10 saves in 54 plus minutes of work.
The Bearcats return to action when they travel to face Defiance (OH) on Saturday, April 23.
