LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 12) - Sophomore Zach D'Amico scored off a lead pass from Josh Kucmeroski to help the Saint Vincent men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Pitt-Greensburg in double overtime.

The win helped Saint Vincent claim the Westmoreland County Cup, which is the trophy awarded to the winner of the annual matchup between the two local rivals.

The game was even throughout, as UPG held a slight shot advantage over the Bearcats, 23-21. Both teams registered eight shots in the first half, before the Bearcats held a 9-8 advantage in the second half. UPG was the aggressor offensively in the first overtime, out-shooting SVC 6-3. The visiting Bobcats tallied the first shot in double overtime before D'Amico sent the Bearcats home a winner for the first time in 2016.

UPG collected six corner kicks to just three for SVC. D'Amico led the Bearcats offense with a team-best six shots. Freshman Jacob Martin totaled five shots in the win. Freshman goalkeeper Nick Bohn earned the win in net, making four saves in a little more than 100 minutes of action.

The win improves the Bearcats to 1-4 overall, while the Bobcats drop to 0-4.

Saint Vincent returns to action with a road matchup against NAIA member Point Park on Thursday, Sept. 15. The contest will be played in downtown Pittsburgh at Highmark Stadium. Start time is slated for 7 p.m.
