MARIETTA, Ohio (Sept. 13) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team was shut out for the second straight game, falling 1-0 on the road to Marietta College.
The host Pioneers scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute of action, when Kayla Tomlin scored assisted from France Moise. The goal was the third of the season for Tomlin.
Saint Vincent was neutralized offensively, being out-shot by a 16-5 margin in the game, including a 5-2 deficit on goal. Perhaps the Bearcats best opportunity came when sophomore
Calsey Holshue had a direct kick with just less than a minute remaining, however the Pioneers goalie knocked the ball away to eliminate the game-tying scoring chance.
The Bearcats only other shot on goal came from freshman
Caroline Snyder in the 29th minute just preceding the Marietta goal.
Junior goalkeeper
Melissa McCarthy stopped four shots in 90 minutes of work in net.
Saint Vincent returns to action on the road at Hilbert College (N.Y.) on Saturday, Sept. 17. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
