SVC loses close match to Geneva, 5-4


BOX SCORE

The SVC women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to Geneva College in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

In doubles play, the #1 tandem of Susie Ellis and Lucy Bujdos were 8-4 winners, but that was SVC's only point in doubles play.  The #3 team of Anita Onufer and Maria Gismondi lost in extra play, 9-7.

In singles, Ellis was a straight set winner in the #1 position, while Claudia Clemens won in straight sets as well, in #6 singles.  

Geneva led the match 4-3, with two singles events still on the court, as both were going to the tiebreaking third set.  Bujdos won the #2 match with a 10-8 tiebreaker win, but Geneva's Megan Shultz won 10-6 over Onufer in a hard-fought match.

With the loss, SVC drops to 3-1 on the season, 1-1 in the PAC. The team returns to action on Friday (September 16), hosting the University of Mount Union at 3:30PM.
