The Saint Vincent women's soccer team and visiting Pitt-Bradford battled to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes to open the season on the SVC turf.
Pitt-Bradford held the edge in the first half, outshooting SVC by a 7-5 margin. Â SVC returned the favor in the second half, posting a 6-4 edge in shots. Â Neither team was able to find the back of the net, so the game went into overtime.
In the first OT period, Bradford again held the advantage, taking three shots while keeping SVC from having an opportunity. Â SVC keeper
Melissa McCarthy kept the visitors off the board, posting six saves through the first 100 minutes. Â In the second OT, SVC had three shots while holding UPB at bay, but the hosts were unable to score, with the game ending in a tie.
Calsey Holshue took 7 of Saint Vincent's 14 shots on the day. Â
The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday (September 7), traveling to Cresson for a non-conference game against Mount Aloysius College.
