The SVC women's basketball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup to Bethany College by a score of 65-46 in the Carey Center.

The early portion of the game belonged to just two players.  For Saint Vincent, Maria Morgan opened scoring at the 7:15 mark with a layup, then followed with a baseline drive that put SVC in front 4-2.
 
Kelsey Daugherty controlled the action for the Bison, scoring five straight points to make it a 7-4 lead for the visitors, with Daugherty responsible for all points.
 
A three by Hayley Holenka at the 1:12 mark of the first quarter gave the Bison a 12-6 lead, and they eventually ended the quarter with a 16-8 advantage.
 
Babette Sanmartin scored to start the second quarter for SVC, cutting the gap to just six, but Holenka responded with a pair of three pointers, extending the Bison lead to 26-12 with just over four minutes remaining.  At the half, Bethany led 32-18, shooting 37.5% from the floor while the Bearcats shot just 21%, including 0-7 from outside the arc.
 
The Bearcats were unable to get the gap closer than 13 in the second half as the team continued to struggle to make shots.  As a team, SVC ended the contest with one just three-pointer from 19 attempts, and shot 23% overall.
 
Morgan led the team with 9 points, while Taylor Boring added 7.  Sanmartin tallied 11 rebounds.  For the Bison, Daugherty finished the evening with 25 points and 11 rebounds.  Holenka had 15 points and 11 boards, while Kelsi Settle also tied for the team high with 11 rebounds.
 
Saint Vincent will travel to Grove City on Saturday (January 7) for a PAC matchup against the Wolverines.
