WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 18) - The Saint Vincent men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 road decision to Washington & Jefferson College in Presidents' Athletic Conference play at Alexandre Stadium.
The host Presidents opened the scoring with a score in the 12th minute of action. W&J would tack on another score to make it 2-0 in the 25th minute of play. The score remained 2-0 in favor of the Presidents into halftime.
Saint Vincent had limited opportunities offensively throughout the game. However, junior
Zach D'Amico tallied a late goal, his third of the season, in the 86th minute of play to close the deficit to 2-1.
The Bearcats could not complete the late comeback attempt, as they did not register a shot over the final four plus minutes of the contest. Senior goalkeeper
James Antonoplos recorded two saves in the first half before giving way to sophomore
Nick Bohn, who recorded one save and allowed no goals during the second half.
W&J out-shot SVC by a 15-4 margin, including a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. The Presidents attempted six corner kicks to just one for the Bearcats.
The loss drops SVC to 3-12-1 overall and 0-6 in PAC play. W&J improves to 9-5 overall and 2-3 in league contests.
After having the weekend off, Saint Vincent travels to Grove City on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Match time is slated for 12:30 p.m.
