WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 18) - Six second half goals lifted W&J past the Saint Vincent women's soccer team by a 6-0 margin in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Alexandre Stadium.
After playing through a scoreless first half, the host Presidents exploded for six goals during the final 45 minutes of play. Four of those six goals were scored by W&J senior Jordan Toohey. After failing to score during the first 45 minutes of action, the Presidents opening the scoring with a goal just 28 seconds into the second half. They went on to add goals in the 58th, 65th, 67th, 70th and 72nd minutes, respectively.
W&J held a 27-5 shot advantage over Saint Vincent, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal. The Presidents held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper
Corinne Burk made six saves in 90 minutes of action in net.
Maggie Nelson and
Natalie Luppold registered two shots each in the loss.
The win improves W&J to 9-5-1 overall and 4-2 in PAC play. SVC falls to 1-12-1 overall and 1-5 in conference games.
Saint Vincent hosts Chatham University on Saturday, Oct. 21. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
