BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 4) - Two second half goals lifted Geneva College past the Saint Vincent women's soccer team by a 3-1 score in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Saint Vincent scored first when senior
Maggie Nelson scored off a pass from junior
Natalie Luppold in the 20th minute of action. The Bearcats maintained that lead until the 34th minute, when the GT's scored the equalizer off of a failed clear attempt by the Bearcat defense. The score remained 1-1 as the two teams went into the halftime break.
Geneva came out of the gates strong in the second half, taking the lead on an score in the 69th minute. The GT's added an insurance goal shortly thereafter in the 79th minute of play to make it 3-1.
The Golden Tornadoes held a 24-7 shot advantage over SVC, including a 13-3 edge in shots on goal.
Junior goalkeeper
Corinne Burk recorded 10 saves in 90 minutes of action in net.
The loss drops SVC to 0-2 in PAC play and 0-9-1 overall. Geneva moves to 1-1 in league action and 4-6 overall.
Saint Vincent hosts Thiel College for another league contest on Sunday, Oct. 8. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
