The Saint Vincent men's swimming team finished third overall with 598.5 points at the annual three-day long Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Grove City College.
The Bearcats finished behind first place Westminster (929.5) and second place Grove City (825.5). SVC finished ahead of W&J (446.5) and Bethany (188).
The highlight of the day came in the final event of the championships, as SVC finished up the meet with a PAC title and new school record in the 400 Free relay. The quartet consisted of
Jacob Davis, Xander Emili, Matt Tashima, and Alex Bolen. The quartet clocked in at 3:06.28.
Starting off the final day, Bolen finished runner-up in the 1650 Free, coming in with a time of 16:38.69.
Adam Gordish broke his own school record in the preliminary session of the 200 Backstroke, clocking in at a time of 1:56.51. The junior finished seventh overall in the finals with a time of 1:57.38.
In the 100 Free, Davis placed second overall as well as breaking his previous school record in the event. Davis came in with a time of 45.90.
Matt Tashima placed seventh in the event with a time of 48.16.
Kameron Faychak placed fourth in the 200 Breaststroke, with a time 2:11.12.
Michael Marinchak took seventh (2:16.58) and
Peter Becker took eighth (2:23.10) in the event.
In the 200 Butterfly,
Kyle Garase had placed fourth with a time of 1:58.41.
Adam Gordish took the fifth spot clocking at 2:00.14, Emili was sixth touching the wall at 2:01.03, and
Andrew Rectenwald finished eighth with a time of 2:02.92.
Friday's Recap
The Saint Vincent men's swimming team moved into third place after a strong Friday session at the 2016-17 Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming Championships, hosted by Grove City College.
Through two days the men's team has totaled 369.5 points, helping them surpass W&J, who has a two-day total of 298.5. Westminster College is still holding onto first place (633.5), more than 100 points better than Grove City, who is in second with 523.5.
The Bearcats started off Friday with the 200 Medley Relay. The team of
Adam Gordish,
Kameron Faychak,
Kyle Garase, and
Alex Bolen claimed third place with a time of 1:35.47.
In the 400 Individual Medley, freshman
Andrew Rectenwald took fifth place with a time of 4:21.86, while teammate
Sean Doyle was right behind, finishing in sixth place (4:22.59).
Kyle Garase and
Xander Emili took fifth (51.79) and sixth (51.95) in the 100 Butterfly, respectively.
Alex Bolen established a new school record in the 200 Free, taking third overall with a time of 1:42.35.
Faychak took fourth in the 100 Breaststroke, coming in with a time of 58.91.
Michael Marinchak took seventh place in the event (1:00.74).
Finishing up the evening, the 800 Free Relay team of Davis, Garase, Emili, and Bolen, finished in third place with a time of 7:03.60.
The PAC Championships wrap up Saturday with preliminary round swimming starting at 10 a.m. Senior recognition takes place at 5:15 before Saturday's finals commence at 5:30 p.m.

The Saint Vincent men's swimming team is in fourth place after the opening day of the 2016-17 Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming Championships, hosted by Grove City College.
Defending champion Westminster College is in first place with 310.5 points. Grove City is in second with 222.5 points while W&J sits in third place (155.5), just in front of the Bearcats with 135.5.
Sophomore
Jacob Davis highlighted the evening, claiming the PAC title in the 50 Free, with a time of 20.72. Davis claimed the title after finishing in fourth place last year as a freshman.
The men's quartet of Davis,
Xander Emili,
Matt Tashima and
Alex Bolen started off the meet with a second place finish in the 200 Free Relay, clocking in at a time of 1:24.40.
Bolen was the seventh place finisher in the 500 Free touching the wall at 4:45.57.
Rounding up day one, the Bearcats finished in third place in the 400 Medley relay, establishing a new school record in the event. The quartet of
Adam Gordish, Kam Faychak,
Kyle Garase and Davis, clocked in with a time of 3:28.71.
Competition continues Friday with preliminary round action at 10 a.m. before the finals in those respective events take place at 6 p.m.
