Hood would battle back, scoring the final four goals of the first quarter to take a 4-2 lead after 15 minutes. The Blazers would then outscore the Bearcats by a 5-1 margin in the second quarter to take a commanding 9-3 halftime lead. The lone SVC goal during the second quarter was by freshman Frank Casile, who recorded his fifth goal of the season.

The visiting Blazers added two more goals in the third, stretching the advantage to 11-3. Both teams tallied one goal in the fourth, including a Bearcat score by sophomore Joe Puvel, with 9:36 left to play.

Freshman Kevin Tregoning made the start in goal, stopping five shots while suffering the loss. Classmate Brandon Martin played the second half in net, making seven saves.
