LATROBE, Pa. (March 18) - The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team suffered a 13-7 loss to Transylvania University in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference opener for both teams.
The visiting Pioneers built a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, with the lone Bearcats' goal coming from freshman
Frank Casile at the 4:06 mark. Transylvania extended its lead to 6-1 with three goals during a two-plus minute stretch in the second quarter. The Bearcats would battle back, scoring a pair of goals in the final two minutes of the first half. Sophomore

Zach Novelli tallied the scores to bring the halftime deficit to 6-3.
Kennedy scored a man-up goal in the opening minute of the third quarter, taking a pass from
Anthony Hogeback and finding the back of the cage, bringing the Bearcats within a pair at 6-4.
The Pioneers quickly countered with two goals to stretch their advantage to 8-4. Hogeback would tally a score for SVC, off a pass from Novelli with 5:51 left in the third. Kennedy added another goal, this one unassisted, to make it 10-6 Transylvania after three quarters.
Transylvania out-scored the Bearcats 3-1 in the fourth to put the game away. Kennedy scored off a pass from Hogeback for the Bearcats lone goal during the final quarter.
Kennedy tallied a match-high four goals, while Hogeback added a goal and three assists in the loss. Freshman goalkeeper
Brandon Martin made 18 saves in his first collegiate start.
The Pioneers out-shot the Bearcats by a 43-27 margin for the game, including by a 13-3 margin in the first quarter. Saint Vincent controlled face-offs, winning 14 of 21 in the contest.
John Wohlin put together a solid effort, winning 11 of 16 face-offs individually.
Saint Vincent moves to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in ORLC play. Transylvania, the two-time defending ORLC champions, improve to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league action.
The Bearcats return to action with a non-conference contest against Wabash College in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, March 25. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
