LATROBE, Pa. (March 4) - The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team held a narrow halftime lead before falling 14-7 to visiting Marymount University on a frigid afternoon at the SVC Turf.

A solid all-around team effort would help Saint Vincent build a 4-3 halftime lead over the Saints. Alex Mueser opened the scoring, scoring unassisted in the opening moments. Marymount would tally two goals before freshman Ben Price evened the score with an unassisted tally late in the first, tying the game 2-2 after 15 minutes of play.

After Marymount opened the second quarter scoring, Frank Casile scored off a pass from Zach Novelli to tie the game at 3-3 at the 4:39 mark. Joe Puvel gave the Bearcats a 4-3 halftime lead after scoring unassisted in the final minute of the half.

A goalkeeper switch and intensified play provided Marymount with spark in the third, as they outscored SVC 5-0 in the quarter to take an 8-4 edge into the fourth. The Saints' run continued with three more consecutive goals, making it 11-4 with 9:13 to play.

Jeremy Kennedy stopped the Saints' scoring streak with a goal off an assist from Price, making it 11-5 with 7:24 left. Price would tack on an unassisted score and Anthony Hogeback would tally a goal off a pass from Novelli in the final minute as the Bearcats fell by a 14-7 margin.

Marymount out-shot Saint Vincent 37-26 in the game, including a 26-12 margin on goal. The Saints held a sizeable advantage in face-offs, winning 15 of the 22 face-offs. Marymount converted 3-of-7 man-up opportunities, while Saint Vincent was 0-for-3 on the man-up.

Price recorded three points (2 goals, 1 assist) to lead the Bearcat offense. Junior goalkeeper Connor McMillen made 12 saves in net during the loss.

The loss drops the Bearcats to 0-2 on the season. SVC returns to action with a road contest at Methodist University on Tuesday, March 7. Start time is slated for 1 p.m. in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
