FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (March 7) - The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team fell behind early before falling 14-6 on the road to a tough Methodist University squad in North Carolina.
Saint Vincent trailed 4-0 after the first quarter and 7-2 at halftime. The Bearcats closed within four goals in the third quarter but four straight scores by the Monarchs ultimately put the game away.

Michael Grus led the defense with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The Bearcats used a pair of freshmen in goal, as
Kevin Tregoning made six saves in the first half and
Brandon Martin stopped five shots in the second half of action.
Methodist was led by Jake Smerka, who tallied six goals and three assists in the victory. The Monarchs outshot SVC by a 44-20 margin in the game, including a 25-12 advantage on goal. Methodist held a decisive advantage in face-offs (18-6).
Saint Vincent falls to 0-3 overall for the season, while Methodist improves to 5-1. SVC hosts Hood College on Saturday, March 11. Start time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
