WASHINGTON, Pa. (April 5) -
Jeremy Kennedy and
Frank Casile combined for nine goals as the Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team earned a 14-11 road victory against rival Washington & Jefferson at Alexandre Stadium.
A strong second quarter helped the Bearcats build a commanding 10-2 lead at halftime. Kennedy, Casile and
Anthony Hogeback all put together solid first half performances. Kennedy and Casile accounted for half of the 10 first half goals, while Hogeback added a goal and assist during the first 30 minutes of play.
Saint Vincent led W&J just 2-1 after the first but used an 8-1 advantage in the second quarter to build the halftime lead. Leading 3-2 early in the 2nd, SVC scored seven unanswered goals during a five-plus minute stretch.
The Bearcats entered the 4th Quarter with an 11-5 lead but the Presidents would make a run at a comeback. W&J scored five straight goals and six out of seven at one point to close the deficit to just 13-11 with 5:50 to play. However, SVC tightened up its defense and a goal from Casile with 2:42 left helped the visitors hold on for the pivotal conference victory.
Kennedy recorded a season-high five goals in the victory. Meanwhile, Casile matched a career-high with four scores.

Michael Grus picked up a team-best five ground balls. Junior goalkeeper
Connor McMillen earned the win in net, making 10 saves.
Saint Vincent improves to 2-1 in ORLC play and 3-6 overall. W&J falls to 2-2 in league play and 3-9 overall.
The Bearcats travel to Hanover College for an ORLC contest on Saturday, April 8. Match time is set for 1 p.m. in Indiana.
