LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 10) - The Saint Vincent women's tennis team stayed unbeaten with a 9-0 non-conference victory against Pitt-Greensburg at the SVC Courts.
The Bearcats rolled to the win over the Bobcats, winning all three doubles matches and all six singles matches on the afternoon.
Lucy Bujdos and
Autumn Miller breezed to an 8-0 victory at first doubles to open the day.
Jessica Hartner and
Tori Monstrola earned a hard fought 8-4 victory at second doubles, while
Ashley Zolocsik and
Indy Mellink claimed an easy 8-1 win at third doubles.
Saint Vincent won five of the six singles matches in straight sets.
Lisa Marthens had to work for her victory at third singles, working back to gain the win in the third set tiebreak. After dropping the first set 6-4, Marthens won the second by a 7-6 (8-6) margin before taking the third set tiebreaker 10-6.
Claudia Clemens was victorious by a 6-0, 6-2 margin at first singles, while
Katie Palko also won in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) at second singles. At fourth singles,
Carson Snyder earned a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) victory.
Livia Wentworth coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles, while
Emily Egler dominated for a 6-1, 6-0 victory at sixth singles.
Saint Vincent moves to 3-0 overall, while UPG falls to 1-3 in 2017. The Bearcats host rival Washington & Jefferson for a Presidents' Athletic Conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
