WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 19) - The Saint Vincent women's tennis team earned a 9-0 road victory over Waynesburg University in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.
The Bearcats started the day by taking all three doubles matches. The tandem of
Lucy Bujdos and
Autumn Miller coasted to an 8-1 victory at first doubles.
Claudia Clemens and
Kate Palko took an 8-4 decision at second doubles, while
Lisa Marthens and
Tori Monstrola won easily at third singles, with an 8-0 score.
Saint Vincent claimed all six singles matches in straight sets. Clemens, Palko and Marthens did not drop a single point in the third, fourth or fifth singles spots. Bujdos won by a 6-2, 6-2 score at first singles, while Miller added a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the second singles spot.
Carson Snyder finished up the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the sixth spot.
The win improves Saint Vincent to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in PAC play. Waynesburg falls to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in league action.
SVC travels to the University of Mount Union on Friday, Sept. 22 for a non-conference matchup with the Purple Raiders. Start time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
