LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 29) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team lost 4-0 to Waynesburg University in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

After 20 scoreless minutes of action to start the contest, the visiting Yellow Jackets tallied three goals during a seven minute stretch in the first half. Nikki Davis, Melanie Byler and Jessica Silbaugh each recorded a score for Waynesburg during that stretch. The Yellow Jackets would take that 3-0 lead into the halftime break after 45 minutes of action.

Byler would tack on her second goal of the day, scoring the lone goal of the second half in the 47th minute of action. Despite out-shooting Waynesburg by a 10-3 margin over the final 45 minutes, Saint Vincent was unable to crack the scoreboard in the shutout defeat.

As a team, Saint Vincent out-shot Waynesburg by a 14-11 mark during the contest. However, just two of those shots by SVC were on goal. The Bearcats held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks and a 9-7 advantage in fouls.

Freshman Savanah Gerstnecker recorded four shots, while junior Calsey Holshue added three shots, two of which were on goal. Junior goalkeeper Corinne Burk tallied two saves in the loss.

Saint Vincent drops to 0-1 in PAC play and 0-8-1 overall. Meanwhile, Waynesburg moves to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0 in league action.

The Bearcats travel to Geneva College for another conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
