PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Sept. 8) - The Saint Vincent men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 road defeat to the La Roche Redhawks in non-conference play.
The host Redhawks used four first half goals to take a commanding lead into halftime and earn the victory. Saint Vincent's lone score of the contest came from junior
Zach D'Amico in the 64th minute.
La Roche held advantages in shots (19-9), corner kicks (5-2) and fouls (6-5) during the match. Seven different Redhawks registered a point in the victory. Junior
Ian Garay fired a team-best three shots for SVC, D'Amico and
Mark O'Grady each added two shots.
Senior
James Antonoplos started in goal, allowing four goals during the first 45 minutes. Sophomore
Nick Bohn played the second half, making five saves and shutting down La Roche over the final 45 minutes.
Saint Vincent moves to 1-2-1 on the season, while La Roche improves to 2-2 overall.
The Bearcats return to action with another trip to Pittsburgh, this time to face NAIA member Point Park University on Monday, Sept. 11. The game will be played at Highmark Stadium.
