The Saint Vincent women's tennis team claimed a 7-2 "road" victory against crosstown rivals Pitt-Greensburg at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
The Bearcats swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Livia Wentworth and Jessica Hartner got the match started with an 8-2 win at third doubles. Next, Autumn Miller and Lisa Marthens paired for their second win in as many days at #2 doubles, 8-4. Lucy Bujdos and Maura Skelley put a cap on doubles with an 8-5 win at the first spot.
Saint Vincent rolled through the first portion of singles play, with Wentworth claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles, followed shortly after by Marthens who clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at third singles. After dropping the first set, Miller stormed back in unforgettable fashion to win second singles 1-6, 6-1, 11-9. Bujdos claimed the final point for the Bearcats at first singles, also by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
With the win Saint Vincent improves to 6-4 on the season. The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, October 12 at 3:30 pm for a non-conference home match versus Franciscan University.
