LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 13) - The Saint Vincent men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Westminster College on Senior Day at UPMC Field.
The Titans opened the scoring in the 20th minute, when Peter Mattocks scored off a through ball from Ahmed Cisse. Westminster would take a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Mattocks would strengthen the Titans advantage early in the second half, tallying an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute to make it 2-0.
The Titans scored the final goal of the day when Payton Goodwin took advantage of a failed clear attempt by the SVC defense. The Goodwin goal in the 76th minute pushed the score to 3-0. Westminster would keep SVC off the scoreboard to preserve the shutout.
Westminster held sizable advantages in shots (22-3) and shots on goal (11-1). Each team recorded one corner kick.
Nick Bohn put together a good effort in goal on Senior Day, making nine saves in 90 minutes of action.
The loss drops SVC to 1-11-1 overall and 0-3-1 in PAC play. Westminster improves to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in league action.
Saint Vincent hosts W&J at UPMC Field on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
