Chatham tops SVC in women's soccer action, 3-0


PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 20) - The Saint Vincent women's soccer team lost 3-0 to the Chatham Cougars in Presidents' Athletic Conference play at Ellis Field.

The host Cougars tallied a pair of goals during a dominant first half to secure the victory. In the 21st minute, Morgan Anderson recorded the initial tally of the contest before Julie Bruening added a goal just before halftime in 45th minute of play. 

Chatham added another goal in the 80th minute to close out the scoring when Paxton Steffy found the back of the net. 

The Cougars used a dominant offensive performance to earn its second straight PAC win. Chatham held a 27-2 shot advantage, including a 15-1 edge in shots on goal. Chatham also held a 9-3 edge in corner kicks over SVC. 

Natalie Luppold recorded the only shot on goal for the Bearcats. Corinne Burk started in net, recording nine saves over the first 45 minutes. Abigail Johnson tallied three saves in the second half. 

Saint Vincent falls to 4-9-1 and 0-5-1 in PAC play. Chatham improves to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in league contests. 

The Bearcats host Grove City College at UPMC Field on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Start time is slated for 4 p.m.
