LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 24) - The Saint Vincent men's soccer team fell 3-0 to visiting Grove City College in Presidents' Athletic Conference play at UPMC Field in Latrobe.
The Wolverines opened the scoring when Jon Burton tallied his PAC leading ninth goal of the season. Burton scored on a header off of a cross from Christian Giannetti in the 11th minute of play. Grove City tacked on another goal in the 23rd minute, when Franklin Tropiano collected a loose ball in the box and scored to make it 2-0 Wolverines. The Wolverines carried the two goal advantage into halftime.
Grove City tacked on the final goal of the day in the 67th minute, when Justin Lind scored in the box off an assist from Brooks Thomas. The final tally made it 3-0 Wolverines. Saint Vincent had a few scoring opportunities but could not convert in the loss.
Grove City out-shot Saint Vincent by a 24-6 margin in the match, which included a 10-2 edge in shots on goal. The Wolverines registered nine corner kicks to just four for the Bearcats.
Cris White paced the SVC offense with two shots.
Nick Bohn started in goal and logged 55:09 of playing time in his last home game for SVC. Bohn recorded five saves before giving way to
Paul Haga. Haga stopped one shot in 34:51 of action.
Saint Vincent travels to Bethany College for the season finale on Saturday, Oct. 27. Start time between the Bearcats and Bison is set for 3:30 p.m.
