Men's Soccer battles to tie with Thiel, 1-1

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 6) - The Saint Vincent College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with the Thiel College Tomcats in a Presidents' Athletic Conference road match.

Both teams played to a scoreless first half, as the host Tomcats out-shot SVC by a 5-2 margin over the first 45 minutes.

Saint Vincent cracked the scoreboard first when Mark O'Grady send a cross into the box, assisting on a score by Brandon Lowe in the 54th minute of play. It looked as though Saint Vincent would have a chance to record a PAC road win.

However, Thiel took advantage of a foul in the box on Saint Vincent, which set up a penalty kick opportunity for the Tomcats. Cole Duskey made the penalty kick, tying the match with just a little more than three minutes remaining in regulation.

Neither team could tally the game-winning score during the two overtime sessions, as the hosts out-shot SVC by a 3-2 margin over the final 20 minutes.

For the match, Thiel held a sizable advantage in shots (18-7). However, the Tomcats held only a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. Saint Vincent held a 10-6 advantage in corner kicks over Thiel. The two teams combined for 34 fouls and six cards in a physical contest.

Zach D'Amico and Cris White recorded two shots each in the game. Nick Bohn made six saves during his 110 minutes in net.
