The SVC women's bowling team returned home to Hillview Lanes and swept visiting Ursuline College by a 3-0 margin.
Lauren Drew got the Bearcats started with a pair of strikes to open the first traditional game. Â SVC opened a quick lead and never looked back, cruising to an 854-733 victory. Â
Rachael Heater threw 7 strikes, including four straight to end the game, to finish with a team-high 203. Â
Dani Koehler shot 181.
In game two, Koehler struck three straight in frames 3-5 as the Bearcats again got off to an early lead and went on to win, 837-703. Â Koehler ended with a 214, while Heater shot 178 and
Emily Duerr finished with a 176. Â
Following two traditional games was a Best-of-7 Baker set. Â SVC struggled in the opening game as the Arrows took a 1-0 lead. Â The Bearcats stormed back, shooting a 215 in the second game, the team's second highest Baker game of the season. Â Drew, Duerr, Heater and
Samm Firestone struck in consecutive frames.
Game three was close throughout, but an untimely split in the 10th by the visitors opened the opportunity for the Bearcats. Â Firestone set it up with a strike in the 9th, and Koehler spared the 10th, giving SVC a 7-pin win and a 2-1 series lead.
The Bearcats won the fourth game by 53 pins, and once again took advantage of an Ursuline split in the 10th in game five, winning by 11 and taking the set by a final score of 4-1. Â Firestone led the team in the Baker games with an average of 17.0.
Saint Vincent is now 22-24 on the season, and will return to action on Saturday night, February 17 at 8PM, hosting Thomas More College. Â The match will be held at Lincoln Lanes in Latrobe.
