The Saint Vincent women's bowling team finished first among 7 teams in the Capital Classic, hosted by Capital University at HP Lanes in Columbus, Ohio.

SVC got off to a slow start, sitting in fourth place after the first two Traditional games.  Brooke Street led the way in game one with a 232 game, while Skyy Nicholls had the top score in game two, 211.  SVC moved up to second after a better third game, with Street posting a 238.

The Bearcats remained in second place after the first round of Baker team games, before round two boosted the team to the top of the list.  SVC started that round with a 189, then followed with games of 214, 232 and 226 for a four-game total of 861 (215.2 average).  The team then averaged 186 over the final four games to increase its lead to nearly 200 pins over second place Ohio State University, 4917-4718.

Street and Nicholls were both named to the All-Tournament Team, with Street's three-game total of 650 earning her Tournament MVP honors.  In Baker play, Mareana Pilyih led the way with a per-frame average of 22.45, a game equivalent of 224.5.  Street averaged 189.2, while Kaylie Kurland finished at 188.6.

The Saint Vincent junior varsity also took top honors in Columbus, finishing first among three teams.  Shelby Frick had the top score with a 200 game, and the team's highest Baker game was a 217.

SVC has finished first in both of its tournaments so far this season, and will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, October 24-25, traveling to Detroit for two American Heartland Bowling Association events.
