Junior first baseman Bobby Finn hit three home runs - including two in one inning - to lead the Bearcats to a 16-11 victory on the road over Waynesburg in the second game of a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader.

Finn drove in a total of six runs in the second game.  With SVC down 2-1 in the second game, Finn hit a home run over the left field fence to lead off the fourth inning.  Nine batters later, he stepped up with two runners on and crushed a home run high into the trees beyond the left field fence, becoming the first Bearcat player in the modern era to hit two home runs in a single inning.  In the sixth inning, Finn stepped to the plate for his next at bat and became the second player in school history to hit three home runs in one game, once again sending a pitch over the fence in left field.

Earlier in the day, SVC dropped the first game by a score of 16-10.

Eddie Kilkeary hit a 2-run home run to put SVC in front, 2-1, in the second inning of game one.  Up 3-1 an inning later, Ramon Milke hit a two-run single to increase the lead to 5-1 in support of SVC starter Jimmy Malone.

The lead grew to 8-1 an inning later, thanks in part of an RBI double by Matt Morrone and an RBI single by Finn.  Tanner Yard singled home two more runs in the top of the 5th, making it a 10-1 game, but the Yellow Jackets refused to give up.

Waynesburg scored three times in the bottom of the 5th to make it a 10-4 game, and added more runs quickly in the bottom of the sixth, chasing Malone.  After the pitching change, the Jackets hit a pair of home runs, eventually taking the lead thanks to a 9-run, 8-hit inning.  The Bearcats never recovered, as Waynesburg added three more late runs, winning the game by a score of 16-10.  Ben Davis took the loss in relief.

Brenden Lavely took to the mound to start game two for SVC, his first starting assignment of the year.  After an RBI double by Yard gave Lavely and the Bearcats a 1-0 lead in the third inning of game two, the hosts came back with a pair of runs to take the lead in the bottom half of the inning.

Finn's first home run quickly tied the game and started the onslaught for the Bearcats.  Kilkeary reached on an error and scored on a Milke single to give SVC the lead.  Brady Duricko followed with a single, and both runners advanced on a passed ball.  Joe Rudzinski then followed with a lengthy at-bat where he fouled off numerous pitches before eventually drawing a walk to load the bases.  A passed ball scored Milke, but Duricko was erased a few pitches later trying to score on a wild pitch.  Shane Fajt then drew a walk, and Yard followed with an RBI double, scoring Rudzinski.  Another wild pitch plated Fajt, and Stone Holtzman then kept the rally going with an RBI single, scoring Yard.  After Morrone singled, Finn hit his towering blast, putting his name into the history books.  In all, the Bearcats tallied 9 runs on 8 hits - matching Waynesburg's output from their big inning in game one.

With one out in the 6th, Morrone singled, giving Finn another opportunity to add his name to the record books, and he responded with another home run to nearly the same place as the other two shots.  However, even though the lead was now 12-2, the game was far from over.

Waynesburg scored three runs in the 6th, but SVC answered with a pair of runs in the 7th, making it 14-5.  Waynesburg then got a solo home run to lead off the 7th, and Mark Locke came out of the bullpen in relief of Lavely.  The hosts then continued to hit the ball well, scoring three more runs before Matt Evans came on, threw two pitches, and induced a ground ball back to the mound to end the inning.

SVC added two runs without a hit in the 8th to make it a 16-9 game, and Evans worked a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 8th.  However, Waynesburg again came to life in the bottom of the 9th, scoring two runs on a pair of hits and a Bearcat effort, before Evans once again got a ground ball back to the mound, ending the game.

Saint Vincent is now 5-5 in the conference this year, 9-13 overall.  The team will be on the road on Tuesday (April 17) for their first-ever PAC matchup with Chatham University.
