WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 5) - The Saint Vincent men's tennis team earned its fifth straight win by downing Waynesburg University 6-3 in Presidents' Athletic Conference competition.
Saint Vincent overcame a slow start, as the team dropped two of the three doubles matches. The tandem of
Zach Fox and
Ryan Hartz earned an 8-4 victory at second doubles to give the Bearcats their first point of the day.
The Bearcats dominated in singles play, picking up wins in five of the six matches.
Jonathan Prichard claimed a hard fought victory at first singles, by a score of 6-2, 5-6 (5-7), 10-7.
Jon Oskin cruised at second singles, winning by a 6-2 and 6-0 margin. Fox,
Riley Maruca and
Alex DeLuca all won in straight sets at the #4, #5 and #6 spots, respectively.
The win was the fifth straight for SVC, who improves to 5-6 overall and 2-0 in PAC play. Waynesburg drops to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Saint Vincent travels to Thomas More for a PAC showdown with the defending champion Saints on Saturday, April 7. Start time is slated for 5 p.m. in Kentucky.
