The Saint Vincent men's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 3-0 loss on the road at Frostburg State in Maryland.
The first half was a defensive battle, as neither team was able to get on the scoreboard through the first 45 minutes of play. Â Frostburg had 8 first half shots, while SVC managed just three.
In the second half, the Frostburg offense took control, as Haven Mackie scored in the 59th minute.  Just over four minutes later, Mackie added his second goal, and teammate Christian Deynes scored in the 83rd minute to make it a 3-0 game. Â
Nick Bohn took the loss in the net, recording 3 saves, as SVC was outshot 12-2 in the final 45 minutes. Â
Zach D'Amico led the scoresheet for Saint Vincent with three shots. Â
SVC returns to action on Sunday (September 2) in the second day of the Frostburg State Tournament, facing DeSales University at 1PM.
