LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 12) - The Saint Vincent College men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to visiting Pitt-Greensburg in the annual Westmoreland County Cup at UPMC Field.
The visiting Bobcats scored the only goal of the contest in the 40th minute when Carson Gilarno tallied his first goal of the season.
Saint Vincent out-shot UPG by a 22-11 margin, including holding a 10-3 edge in the second half. Neither team found much success putting their shots on target, as SVC recorded four shots on goal to just two for the Bobcats. Each team registered four corner kicks in the contest. The visiting Bobcats committed nine fouls compared to just six for the Bearcats.
Cris White was one of four Bearcats to tally three shots, two of which were on goal.
Griffin Prinkey and
Mark O'Grady also put a shot on goal.
Nick Bohn started in goal, allowing one goal and stopping one shot during the first half.
Matthew Balas played the second half in net.
The loss drops Saint Vincent to 0-6 overall, while UPG moves to 2-2-1 in non-conference play.
Saint Vincent travels to Stevenson University on Sunday, Sept. 16. Start time is slated for 4 p.m.
