LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 22) -
Kristin Marsh scored twice but the Saint Vincent women's soccer team suffered a tough 3-2 setback in overtime to Hood College at UPMC Field.
The visiting Blazers opened the scoring in the 14th minute when defender Jordan Bailey lifted a shot over the SVC goalie and into the net to give Hood a 1-0 lead. That advantage held up through halftime and into the second half before SVC could get on the scoreboard.
In the 64th minute, the Bearcats evened the score (1-1) when Marsh blasted the ball into the top left corner of the net for her sixth goal of the season.
The Blazers regained the lead in the 76th minute when Jasmine Mangle found the back of the net, taking advantage of a turnover deep in the Bearcats' end of the field.
Hood looked poised to claim the victory until Marsh scored the equalized. The senior broke down the Hood defense, slicing her way between a pair of defenders before eventually trickling a shot past the goalkeeper with just a little more than three minutes left in regulation. The Marsh goal, her PAC leading seventh of the season, helped SVC force an overtime session.
SVC opened the overtime with a strong scoring chance as Marsh once again worked her way into the box before firing wide of the goal. On the next offensive rush, the Blazers sent a cross into the box to find Delaney Crawford, who knocked in the game winning score.
For the match, Hood out-shot SVC by a 19-16 margin, including an 11-4 advantage in the first half. Both teams recorded seven shots on goal in the match. Hood held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks over SVC.
Marsh led all players with seven shots, including the pair of goals.

Abigail Johnson started and worked 93+ minutes in net, tallying four saves.

The Bearcats host Juniata College for a non-conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Start time is slated for 4 p.m.
