The SVC women's soccer team held the early lead, but lost to visiting Juniata College by a score of 2-1 in a non-conference game at UPMC Field.

The Bearcats had a scoring opportunity with just under 13 minutes left in the first half, when a corner kick by Leah Memmo was headed out of the goal area by a Juniata defender. Kelly Ingram found the loose ball and blasted a shot from 20 yards out, but the shot was blocked by a defender. However, the block was called a handball by the official, and SVC was awarded a penalty kick.  Natalie Luppold scored on the kick, putting SVC in front, 1-0.

The lead held until the final minute of the first half, when a direct kick following a Saint Vincent foul was kicked into the box by Juniata's Kristin Racis.  Winter Adams headed the ball directly into the net, tying the game, 1-1.

However, the Eagles added a goal in the 57th minute off a corner kick to earn the win. Caroline Braas tallied the game winner.

Abigail Johnson made 8 saves but took the loss in the net for the Bearcats.

Saint Vincent is now 4-4 on the season, heading into Presidents' Athletic Conference play. The team will travel to Waynesburg on Saturday (September 29) for a 1PM game.
