The SVC women's basketball team earned a 94-74 road-victory at Thiel College to improve to 10-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
Saint Vincent led by as few as five points (54-49) in the third quarter, but the Bearcats eventually pulled away for a 20-point victory.  The team was led in scoring by
Madison Kollar, who scored a career-high 35 points. Kollar shot 15-23 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds.
The game was tied at 3-all when the Bearcats went on a 9-0 run which was capped off by a
Paige Montrose layup at the 6:39 mark. Â Thiel responded to make it a 1-point game (18-17) with the 2:45 remaining in the first quarter, but SVC finished the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 24-17.
The Bearcats trailed briefly in the second quarter after Thiel used a 12-0 run to take a 3-point lead. Â However, SVC's
Maria Morgan made a three at the 1:57 mark to put the Bearcats ahead, 38-36.
SVC finished the half on a 13-0 run to lead, 46-36, at the break.
In the third quarter, SVC lead by as many as 14 (50-36) after a basket by
Paige Montrose. Â After Thiel cut the Bearcat's lead to 7 points (60-53),
Maria Morgan connected on a three assisted by
Carlee Kilgus to put SVC ahead by 10 at the 3:10 mark.  Kollar made a jumper to make the score 70-58 with 1:03 remaining in the third quarter, and the Bearcats led 70-62 after three quarters of play.
With a 9-point lead (74-65), Kollar scored SVC's next 15 points to put the Bearcat's ahead, 89-73, with 2:21 left in the fourth quarter.Â
SVC outscored Thiel, 24-12, in the fourth quarter to earn a 20-point victory.
Morgan scored 11 points, going 3-5 from three-point range.
Kayla Slovenec also contributed 11. Montrose finished with 9 points.
Jess Vormelker led Thiel with 19 points.Â
SVC plays on Wednesday (Jan. 26) against Thomas More University for a 5:30 tipoff in the Carey Center.
