The Saint Vincent College women's soccer team hosted Bethany College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. The Bearcats picked up their first win of the season by defeating the Bison, 2-0.
 
SVC controlled position from the start as they took shots early and often. Saint Vincent scored the opening goal when sophomore Maddy Mihalchik scored from 30 yards out in the 20th minute.
 
Leading 1-0, the Bearcats doubled its lead as sophomore Hannah Irvine scored off the pass from freshman Jessica Persin in the 39th. Saint Vincent maintained the 2-0 lead into halftime.
 
In the second half, both teams exchanged opportunities but SVC held the 2-0 lead for the first win of the season. The Bearcats outshot the Bison 13-6 and totaled five corners to Bethany's one. Junior Abigail Johnson picked up her first win of the year as she made five saves in net.

Saint Vincent,  now 1-10 and 1-2 in PAC play, will travel to Geneva College on Saturday, Oct. 19. Start time is 3 p.m.
